Learn how to propagate your own fruit trees.

On this course you will learn the ancient art of grafting fruit trees and will take home 3 grafted apple trees.

These sessions run from 10.30am - 3pm.

We will start with a tour of the nursery site, and discuss the theory and reasons for grafting, the use of different rootstocks and growing styles.

There will be lots of time for hands on practice using a grafting knife, practicing the technique of 'whip and tongue' grafting. We start using willow sticks which are softer than apple wood. Once you get into the swing of making clean cuts with the willow, we will move on to apple wood, then onto the real thing with rootstocks and graft wood.

We will provide tea, coffee, cakes (homemade), and a light lunch of soup (homemade), bread, and cheese.

Please let us know of any dietary requirements.

The course is run in an open barn so please bring appropriate clothing and footwear.

We are offering 6 different dates for grafting courses this winter.
