I am experienced in providing courses on both Grafting and Pruning, having worked with organisations such as the Marcher Apple Network, Old Trafford Amateur Gardeners Society (OTAGS), The National Trust, Cheshire Landscape Trust, Fordhall Farm (Shropshire), and for various community orchards and gardens, including most recently at an accredited Certificate in Community Orcharding in Swansea.
I offer courses in grafting and pruning at my site in Shropshire, which include a tour of the nursery and orchard, and a light homemade lunch.
Fruit Tree Grafting Courses – Friday 16th Feb and Saturday 17th Feb 2024.
We will be running two grafting courses this winter. They will run from 10.30 -3.30.
Participants will learn the art of grafting fruit trees and will take home 3 grafted trees.
We will also have a tour of the nursery site, looking at how trees are grown in a nursery setting.
The cost is £120 per person.
2024 date TBC
This course will offer attendees hands-on, practical learning as we explore pruning a variety of tree forms, from free-standing bush or standard trees to renovating slightly neglected cordons and espaliers.
You will learn
- Different pruning techniques
- Theory of pruning and reasons for summer pruning
- Maximising fruit production
This course will take place at my original nursery site, just a few minutes away from my current site, where the trees are more established and better suited to pruning demonstrations. Please bring along any pruning tools you may have, as I will discuss and advise on recommended equipment and upkeep.
The course fee is £80, including a light homemade lunch.
For more information, and to be added to our list of course participants, please get in touch and we will contact you with the details.
Alternatively, I am available for bookings to lead courses on a freelance basis at your Community Orchard/horticultural site, get in touch to enquire about fees and availability.
