Reputedly the oldest English pear still in use, dating back to the 1600’s. It is no longer grown commercially, but has many characteristics that would make it a prime candidate to be revived for commercial or community orchard growing: it is easily cultivated, generally does well in most soils and can be a prolific cropper.
